Education: Karen Kaufman, Ph.D., L Ac. earned her Ph.D. in social psychology at Claremont Graduate University and subsequently went on to study Chinese Medicine at the International Institute of Chinese Medicine. She has practiced Chinese medicine for four years and integrates Eastern and Western approaches to treating individuals, with a focus on chronic pain and stress management, stemming from challenging life events (for example, divorce, infertility, trauma). Karen recently completed a post-doctoral research fellowship (OHSU) in stress research where she studied the use of acupuncture to treat bereaved spouses, and has published in peer-reviewed journals. She also teaches research design to acupuncture doctoral students.

Personal Interests:
In her spare time Karen enjoys travel with friends and family, (especially international travel) and has recently taken up the dramatic craft of glassblowing.
